Meet Amanda K. Calvert

For over ten years I have been a public servant for Hays County. I have served as the Administrative Felony Lead Supervisor, and overseen all of the administrative work for felony cases in that time. Now I have been called to seize an opportunity I have sought for a long time. I knew shortly after beginning my work for the county that one day I wanted to run for Justice of the Peace in this County. I love the work I do and I know how critical every piece is when it comes to seeking justice in this county. I am a public servant at heart. I think I have a sense of duty to the community I live in, not only for things that are fulfilling but to accomplish things that need to be done to keep our county going.

What makes me qualified for this position?

I have proven myself in my position at the Hays County District Attorney’s Office for over ten years

I have reviewed over 10,000 felony  indictments, assisted in preparing numerous cases for trials from Thefts to Murders

I was one of the final candidates chosen to interview for this position’s appointment, so not only do I think I am qualified, other people agree

I have an education background that fits this role, with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Minor in Sociology. I also attended the Master’s Program for Legal Studies where I obtained my Paralegal Certificate

I have 16 years of Leadership/Supervisor experience

I have worked with many prosecutors, defense attorneys, local law enforcement, and judges of this county and I know how to successfully cooperate with these entities to get justice delivered

I have contributed to my community by volunteering with the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center as an advocate on the HEART team, which provides support at local hospitals for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence

I was also a volunteer with Seedling, a program that pairs mentors with students in local schools who have a parent who is incarcerated.
